3rd Seminar // February-April 2023
This seminar is part of the “Democracy and Tolerance” line of work that the ILE is developing in collaboration with the Residencia de Estudiantes, and as such continues the 2021 seminar “Liberal democracy/digital democracy. Democracy and its current transformations”, and “The culture of liberty and its threats”, held in 2022. While in the past the discussion focused on the internal dimension of democracy, the growth of populism, and non-liberal political action patterns, we will now consider those factors that test our capacity for resilience as free societies, which a war in our continent, global inequality, and the challenge of climate change have only accentuated. This seminar seeks to assess how supranational cooperation among strong democracies is the best way to safeguard democracy and face crises.
Approximate duration of each session: 90 minutes.
Seminar sessions will be in Spanish or English, with simultaneous translation into the other language.
