It consisted of a presentation by Fernando Vallespín and the talk “Die Paradoxien globaler Ungleichheit (The Paradoxes of Global Inequality)” by Professor of Macro-Sociology at the University of Kassel Heinz Bude. The event was conducted entirely in German, with simultaneous translation into Spanish.

The fifth session of the seminar “Democracy in the face of new risks: how to invest in resilience” was held on March 29, 2023 in the auditorium of the Institución Libre de Enseñanza. It consisted of a presentation by Fernando Vallespín and the talk “What can we learn from the past to face the challenges of the future?”, given by the Cambridge University professor Mary Beard and the writer Antonio Muñoz Molina. The event was conducted entirely in English.

The fourth session of the seminar “Democracy in the face of new risks: how to invest in resilience” was held on March 13, 2023 in the auditorium of the Institución Libre de Enseñanza. It consisted of a presentation by Fernando Vallespín and the talk “The challenges of climate change” by the director of the Ecology and Global Change group of the National Museum of Natural Sciences Fernando Valladares and the professor of Contemporary History at the University of Aix-Marseille Agnès Delage Amat. It consisted of a presentation by Fernando Vallespín and the talk “European Union and defense policies: the compatibility between NATO and the EU”, by Javier Solana, President of the ESADE Center for Global Economy and Geopolitics. The second session of the seminar “Democracy in the face of new risks: how to invest in resilience” was held on February 27, 2023 in the auditorium of the Institución Libre de Enseñanza. It consisted of a presentation by Fernando Vallespín and the conversation “The Constitution of the Earth”, between Professor Emeritus of Philosophy of Law at the University of Rome Tre Luigi Ferrajoli and Professor of Administrative Law at the Complutense University of Madrid and Director of the Royal Spanish Academy, Santiago Muñoz Machado. It consisted of a presentation by the seminar coordinator, Fernando Vallespín, and the conversation “Science and Democracy”, which Vallespín himself held with the German writer, television presenter and current affairs analyst Thea Dorn. The event was conducted mainly in German and English.

It consisted of a presentation by the president of the ILE, José García-Velasco, an introduction by the seminar coordinator, Fernando Vallespín, and the lecture “Democracies and Geopolitics”, given by the president of the ESADE Center for Global Economy and Geopolitics, Javier Solana. It consisted of a presentation by the coordinator of the seminar, Fernando Vallespín, and the conference “Por un enfoque cosmopolita de la cultura”, given by the essayist and professor of Ethics Adela Cortina. It consisted of a presentation by the president of the ILE, José García-Velasco, and the conference “Is there something wrong with “The West”? The first session of the seminar series “The culture of liberty and its threats” was held on February 7, 2022 in the auditorium of the Institución Libre de Enseñanza. It consisted of a presentation by Elisa Navas, director of the ILE followed by the series’ introductory lecture “The culture of Liberty”, read by the Dutch intellectual Rob Riemen. After the lecture, there followed a dialogue between Rob Riemen and Fernando Vallespín, political scientist and current affairs analyst. The event was conducted entirely in English.

The seventh session of the seminar “Liberal democracy / digital democracy: Democracy and its current transformations” was held on March 24, 2021 in the auditorium of the Institución Libre de Enseñanza. It consisted of a presentation by the coordinator of the seminar, Fernando Vallespín, and the lecture “New reactive intolerance”, given by Professor Emeritus of Philosophy Carlos Thiebaut. The event was conducted entirely in English.
