Normative foundations of the rule of law
Francisco Laporta (Madrid, 1945) is professor emeritus of Philosophy of Law and patron of the Institución Libre de Enseñanza. He has held the positions of director of the Institute of Human Rights (1985-1986) and professor (1983-1995) at the Complutense University of Madrid, and vice-rector (1982-1983) and professor (1995-2017) at the Autonomous University of Madrid. He has also been director of the Center for Constitutional Studies (1987-1993) and State Counselor (1987-1993). He was a member of the World Executive Committee of the International Association for Legal and Social Philosophy between 2010 and 2015, and organizer of the World Congress on Philosophy of Law held in Washington in 2015. In 2008 he was awarded the National Prize for Research in Legal and Social Sciences “Pascual Madoz”.
